Yesterday I went to the LA Auto Show with my roommate and her friends. It is now being held at Los Angeles Convention Center ’till 1/16. I don’t know anything about car and I’m not that interested in cars anyway. To me, car is just a transportation tool. As long it works and takes me to my destination, I don’t care about its horsepower, engine or design. But since Homer works at a car website company and is crazy about cars, I feel I should go check out this car show to find out more about cars.
It was raining cats and dogs on Sunday. The traffic was bad on the freeways and downtown LA. Seemed like everyone went to the car show yesterday. It took us more than 30 minutes before finding a parking lot that wasn’t full. The Convention Center was huge, with 2 major West and South Halls, plus some smaller exhibition rooms in between. The place was packed with people. Every car on display has people sitting in it, feeling the brand new car. Pretty much all of the major car companies worldwide participated in this auto show. Honda, Toyota, Mercede Benz,BMW, Ford, Chevrolet, GM, Volkswagon, Jaguar….you name it. They were all there.
I was more interested to look at the exotic, high end vehicles. Knowing that I would never be able to afford such a car, just looking at the shiny sparkling body and feel the smooth leather seats made me satisfied. I don’t know anyone who would ever buy those cars. I think they are more for shows and status than being practical driving vehicles. Some of the futuristic concept cars are pretty interesting too. I wonder how cars will look like 10 or 20 years from now. Must be very different from what we’re driving today.
If you’re a car fanatic, go check out the auto show before it’s too late! http://www.laautoshow.com/2005
