Mean Girl

I know this movie has been out awhilebut I finally got to see the DVD. At first I thought it’s just another dumb teenage movie, but it turns out to be a great humorous comedy.

Cady Heron (played by Lindsay Lohan) is a 15-year-old who has been living in Africa and home-schooled by her parents her entire life. When they move back to the mid-western state, she has no idea what it’s like to survive in a public high school, with all the girl gossips, cliques, and dramas. Just like any other high school, the students are steretyped into several categories : jocks, artists freaks, Asian nerds, Asian cool girls, and the plastics. The “plastics” are these 3 most popular girls in school, whom are the most hated and most loved by others. Cady was urged by her newly made artists friends to be friends with the plastics and spy on every move they do. Eventually this underground spy work turn into a nasty disaster among the girls in school.

Tina Fey (“Saturday Night Live”) adapted the screenplay from the book “Queenbees and Wannabees” by Rosalind Wiseman. I felt this movie was very well written. It’s not too cheesy and doesn’t have a lot of dumb jokes like all the other teenage movies. At the same time, it shows how teenage girl can be very negative and violent with each other, kinda reminds me about my high school years. This movie is funny and witty, and yet still has a kind of humanity in it. I feel this is a greatfriday-night-relaxed-at-home type of movie which can be enjoyed by all ages.
